Dear fat people. Just be you, but be a healthier you.

So many things led to this strip, I don’t know where to begin.

So last week there was no strip, because the top part of this one was supposed to be that strip. But ending with the third panel (where Albert has that look while Joey walks away) didn’t finished the story the way I wanted to. I needed to add two more.

But then adding those two meant I’m short one. So while I was trying to drown out the noise of grinding and pounding metal at the construction happening next door by playing music, Aerosmith’s Love in an Elevator played. Thus the vision of Charlie (what about that hair) and a very beautiful dutch blond named Maartje came into being.

Now for the title itself (you probably read about that Youtube video). I have family and friends that struggle with their weight. Truth be told I’m in the opposite end of this spectrum (I have trouble gaining weight), but I understand their struggles. And as much as I want them to be healthy, no one can make them change their ways except them. It was that for me. One day I just realised I needed to exercise, to make a change.

The way Albert, in the strip, reacted to Joey’s invitation is metaphorically similar to what I experienced.

It took me 12 years to gain 25 pounds of muscle, and I’ve never looked back.

I hope the same to all who struggle with weight. Whether to lose them or to gain them.
