Fast Times at Ridgemont High hit screens back in 1982, and with it exposed what exactly was going on in the brains of hormonal teens in the early ’80s.

Fast cars, fast girls, fast carrots. You read that right.

I was very young when this movie came out, so obviously I wasn’t allowed to watch it. One visual became iconic for teenage boys across the world: Phoebe Cates and her red bikini.

The first Phoebe Cates movie I saw was Gremlins, in 1985. I was probably still too young to watch that movie as well. But from then on my room was adorned with Cates’ posters.

Dream Joey’s line comes straight from the swimming pool scene. I’ve already referenced the carrot gag in a previous strip. I love 80s movies, although it was in the 90s when I got to watch this movie (and every R-rated movies in that era).
